The present invention relates to skin care compositions in the form of solid sticks for maintaining and improving the condition of the skin, especially redness in the areas under an absorbent article. The skin care stick provides an efficient and aesthetically pleasing delivery vehicle for topically applying a very low level of the skin care composition to the skin and achieving efficacy. The stick composition has a desired hardness so as to maintain dimensional stability and is capable of depositing a very small but effective amount of the skin care composition onto the skin during use. The present invention also relates to methods of improving the skin condition, especially the redness associated with chronic exposure of the skin to body waste, moisture, irritants, etc. The method comprises applying a thin layer of a skin care composition in the stick form and achieving efficacy at a very low level of application. The present invention further relates to methods for manufacturing the skin care stick compositions of the present invention.
