The gas guiding component(4) which protrudes into the airbag is flexible and is designed to assume a determined shape and/or size when propellant gas is produced. The gas guiding component is elastically designed and has a tube(5) with a cross section which expands by propellant gas. The tube has fabric inlays with a high tensile strength. The guide component in the initial position is fastened to a airbag cover surface(8) lying opposite the gas generator(1), and the fastening is separable when gas is produced.
