<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a chip type thermistor from being cracked and moreover, to increase the mechanical strength of the thermistor by a method wherein one part of the main surface of a surface electrode is exposed from an insulating layer and the one part of the main surface of the surface electrode is removed from the position of the exposed one part of the electrode. SOLUTION: In a chip type thermistor 11, one part 13a of the main surface of a surface electrode 13 is exposed to the outside without being covered with an insulating layer 15 and this exposed part 13a of the electrode 13 is removed. That is, a window 15a is provided in the layer 15 formed on the upper surface of the thermistor 11 and by removing the part 13a of the electrode 13, which is exposed through the window 15a, the resistance of the thermistor 11 is adjusted so as to become a design resistance or a resistance in the range of the allowable error between the design resistances. Moreover, as the method of removing the one part 13a of the electrode 13, the window 15a is kept formed in the layer 15 covering the surface electrodes 13 and 14 and the removal of the one part 13a is performed by an etching using an acid through this window 15a.</p> |
