INSULATING MATERIAL AND PRODUCTION METHOD THEREFOR

A heat-insulating, sound-proofing mat consisting of a mat cut into a standard size, coated at opposite side surface and front- and rear-end surfaces with upper and lower coating films of a required minimum length, and having a structure which does not damage the films at compression packing and at unpacking due to an inner pressure of the mat and can retain a JIS standard size; and a high-productivity production method for the structure. Mats cut into a standard size are fed adjacently in a preset direction, adjacent mats are spaced apart a preset interval required to minimize a film length, the upper and lower surfaces and opposite side surfaces of each mat are coated with upper and lower coating films, adjacent mats are stopped with the preset interval in a preset position, the upper portions of respective front end surface and rear end surface of facing mats are pressed to a preset size, and, with the films kept fixed, the front-end and rear-end surfaces are coated and lower-surface-end lugs are bonded and cut.
