A method of washing a rotating tube of a horizontal type tubular centrifugal separator capable of removing, to the outside of the rotating tube, precipitate deposited on the inner wall of the tube of the horizontal type tubular centrifugal separator rotating with both ends thereof supported on bearings, comprising the steps of charging a plurality of solids for washing into the rotating tube, feeding washing fluid into the rotating tube, rotating the rotating tube, and draining the precipitation together with the washing fluid, the solids for washing being charged into the rotating tube before centrifugal separation or charged into the rotating tube at the time of washing after the centrifugal separation, whereby the manual precipitation removal of a conventional centrifugal separator has been eliminated to reduce a washing cost, and an independent use of a large-sized centrifugal separator which was difficult in the conventional centrifugal separator has been enabled.
