METHOD FOR CONFERRING RESISTANCE TO CROWN GALL DISEASE

A method for conferring resistance to crown gall disease in a plant susceptible to the disease. The method comprises introducing into the genome of the plant a DNA molecule comprising a 2.8kb EcoRV-B fragment of the IncQ plasmid RSF1010, or comprising a subfragment of the fragment capable of conferring resistance to the disease in the plant. Also disclosed is a transgenic plant transformed with a DNA molecule comprising the 2.8kb EcoRV-B fragment or a subfragment thereof.
