An organic EL display includes an organic EL device adapted to emit light at high luminance at relatively low voltage, hardly emits erroneous light, and operates at high operating speed without lowering its contrast. The display comprises a switching device where a couple of a controlling electrode and a controlled electrode is formed on a non-monocrystalline silicon substrate and an organic EL device driven by the switching device and including an anode, a cathode, and an organic layer provided between the electrode and concerning at least a light-emitting function. The organic EL device further includes either an inorganic electron injection transport layer provided between the organic layer and the cathode, including a conductive path for blocking holes and for transporting electrons, and having a high resistance, or an inorganic hole injection transport layer provided between the organic layer and the anode, including a conductive path for blocking electrons and for transporting holes, and having a high resistance, or both layers.
