A method for applying three-dimensionally formed sheets to complex surfaces of workpieces, especially to body parts or other parts of motor vehicles, wherein the initially unformed sheet is formed by means of a deep-drawing die, coated with an adhesive and then placed on the surface of the workpiece which is to be covered. Once the deep-drawing process is terminated, the sheet (13) is cut out of the deep-drawing die (11), taken along with the deep-drawing die to the workpiece (21) and, while said sheet is still in the deep-drawing die (11), is subsequently positioned on top of the surface of the workpiece (22) which is to be covered, whereupon it is joined to said workpiece (21) and pressed. The deep-drawing die (11) is then returned to its initial position (deep-drawing installation 10).
