PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability by setting volume of a voice generated in response to a selected processing operation and adjusting the volume generation, when the processing operation corresponding to the volume is performed. SOLUTION: A display D01 is shown on an indicator, and volume adjustment is selected by a (←) key or a (→) key as to the volume of an item to be performed among an 'on-hook mode', a 'FAX transmission mode' and a 'FAX reception mode'. In display D02, the selection item 'on-hook mode' is selected, and the volume adjustment of the 'on-hook mode' is performed. A volume set position, corresponding to a volume setting position when a (Yes) key is pressed down, is made to correspond to the selected volume adjustment item and stored. Thus, a line signal to be outputted from a loudspeaker is outputted with stored new set volume in a subsequent 'on-hook mode'.
