The seat which can be converted into a bed has a seat extension section comprising a frame which supports the seat cushion and can be moved along its longitudinal axis. The frame consists of two rectangular sub-frames (1, 2) linked by X-frames (3, 4, 5, 6) which form a scissor mechanism (13, 14). These are attached to the frames by bolts (20) at one end. The other ends of the frames have slotted boxes (7, 8) in which the ends of the X-frames can slide. One of these on the bottom frame has an L-shaped arm which can swivel to lock the assembly in position.
