A hybrid vehicle including an engine and a motor generator to serve as a pow er source, comprising a clutch for automatically establishing and cutting off t he transmitting of rotation between the output shaft of the engine and the inpu t shaft of the transmission, a power transmission mechanism for transmitting power between the input/output shaft of the motor generator and the input shaft of the transmission, and a hybrid control unit for disengaging the clutch and driving the motor generator depending on the operating conditions . Depending on the operating conditions, it is possible to disengage the clutc h and speed-change the rotation of the motor generator by the transmission so as to drive the vehicle, thereby enlarging the region where the motor generator operates efficiently, improving the fuel consumption reduction effect for th e hybrid vehicle. |
