PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To omit a transmission power arithmetic circuit calculating transmission power and a DSP or the like in a portable telephone set 10 that increases/ decreases the transmission power from an antenna 28 by 1 dB each according to a transmission power control command from a base station so as to make communication with the base station with minimum transmission power. SOLUTION: An accumulator 30 increases or decreases a count by 1 according to a transmission power control command from a base station. An IF ROM 31 and an RF ROM 32 store control data with respect to each count of the accumulator 30 so that transmission power from an antenna 28 is changed by 1 dB with respect to a difference from the count of the accumulator 30 by 1. The count of the accumulator 30 is converted into the corresponding control data by the IF ROM 31 and the RF ROM 32 and D/A converters 33, 34 convert the control data into analog DC control voltage, which is given to an IF variable amplifier 19 and an RF variable amplifier 27 to change a gain of them.
