PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit a plurality of digital video signals that is multiplexed in a reproducible way with a comparatively easy means by applying transmission rate conversion processing to 20-bit word stream data formed through multiplex processing, inserting an attached word data group to form composite 20-bit word stream data, converting the resulting data into serial data and transmitting the serial data. SOLUTION: Digital video signals DVS1-DVS4 among digital video signals DVS1-DVS5 of 5 channels are directly fed to a 20-bit word stream data generating section 10. Furthermore, a prescribed time difference with respect to the respective signals DVS1-DVS4 is given to the signal DVS5 by a time difference imparting section 11 to obtain a digital video signal DVS5', and it is fed to the 20-bit word stream data generating section 10. The signals DVS1-DVS5 are obtained by applying multiplexing processing and serial data conversion to a data series and a PB/PR data series and received with horizontal blanking period parts of the signals arranged equally.
