The present invention relates to a process for producing a continuous fibrous thread for technical applications by spinning a polymer in which 90 percent of its chains are comprised of ethylene terephthalate units, whereby the spinning process has the following stages: polymer extrusion in melted state thereof through a spinning nozzle plate, further stabilization of a fiber velocity, further stretching the fibers to a length being equal to 1.5 to 3.5 multiple of their initial length, in the end winding up the resulting fibrous thread. Prior stretching said fiber crystallinity is less than 16 percent and the thread is wound up at a rate greater than 6000 m/min. The thread obtained in such a manner is especially suitable for use as a reinforcing material in rubber articles, particularly as a reinforcing material in pneumatic tyres for vehicles. The invented polyester fibrous thread can be used for making cords exhibiting high dimensional stability at extraordinary combination of tearing strength, shrinkage and impact strength. |
