A pest control device for controlling molluscs, such as slugs and snails, in gardens and other environments comprises an elongate strip of flexible substrate material (12), which is coated on at least one side thereof with a molluscicide. In use, the device can be joined end-to-end with itself or other devices around the stem of a plant or around an entire border or other area of the garden. This can be achieved by means of a region of adhesive (14) at one end of the strip or by engaging slots (13) at each end of the strip. Slugs and snails are unable to reach the growing plants without climbing over the physical barrier and coming into contact with the molluscicide thereon. The strips can be manufactured by coating a sheet (10) of flexible material (eg cardboard or plastics) with a molluscicide (eg by applying latex adhesive to the sheet and subsequently sprinkling with powered or granular molluscicide) and then stamping scoring lines of weakness (11), thus dividing the sheet into strips.
