In the present invention there is disclosed a salt of maleic acid and 5-[4-[2-(N-methyl-N-(2-pyridyl)amino)ethoxy]benzyl]thiazolidine-2,4-dione or an isomer or tautomeric form of this compound and/or pharmaceutically acceptable solvate of this compound. This compound is suitable for treatment and/or prophylaxis of hyperglycemia, hyperlipemia, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases and certain disorders of alimentation addictions. In the present invention there are also claimed a process for preparing this compound a pharmaceutical preparation in which such substance is comprised as well as use thereof for the above-indicated purposes.
