The heater has a housing (4) with chamber (12) having cooling water intake (17) and drain (18), and a driven rotor shaft (7) with rotor (9). The rotor carries a pump impeller (14) to convey cooling water from intake to drain, and an eddy current plate (21) of electrically conductive material, which is part of an eddy current heater (20). A non-turnable magnet carrier (23) with permanent magnets (30) is moved in direction of the central longitudinal rotor shaft axis (5), between rest and working positions. In rest position, the carrier is at a distance to the eddy current plate, and in working position, it creates a very narrow gap (31) between plate and magnets. |
