PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the abrasion of a connecting part with 9 engine side in starting an engine. SOLUTION: In this start device 2, a start side rotating part 10 rotated by driving a rotation drive source is provided, and is connected engagedly/ disengagedly with an engine side rotating part 5 to transmit rotation drive. In this case, a synchronization mechanism 11 is equipped which is detecting the rotation frequencies of the rotating parts 5 and 10 respectively, to synchronize the rotation of the rotating part 10 with that of the rotating part 5.
