PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bench seat for an automobile securing the passenger holding ability and the habitability by setting holding pads at a required tilt angle by a single operation with a simple structure with the reduced number of parts. SOLUTION: A fixed side holding pad is integrally formed on either side of the seat part 1 and the backrest part 2 of this bench type seat, and a storage recess 5 is formed at the center in the width direction of the seat part 1 and the backrest part 2 for storing movable holding pads 4. In order to form a slope in the storage recess 5 by a pair of right/left holding pads 4 standing in a truncated chevron shape with the same flat plane as the seat part 1 and the backrest 2, a pad frame 8 is mounted inside each holding pad 4, and a cylindrical bracket 6 is fixed to each side of the storage recess 5 in the vertical shaft direction, in which a stay 7 is fitted. One end of the pad frame 8 is connected 9 to the top of the stay 7 rotatably in the vertical direction so tightly fitted that the rotation of the pad frame 8 can be braked at an arbitrary position by friction resistance.
