PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ground improvement method combined with a precast pile working method by driving precast piles into ground as a foundation for a structure and a compacted sand pile creation method for strengthening the ground by creating a number of sand piles compacted in the ground at adequate intervals, which creates no an excessively high soil strength portion and provides an excellent construction efficiency. SOLUTION: In a foundation improvement method comprising a precast pile working method in which precast piles are driven into the ground as a foundation for a structure and a compacted sand pile creating method for strengthening the ground by creating a number of compacted sand piles at adequate intervals, the sand piles 1 are driven by reducing the percentage of substitution of sand piles 1 to less than the percentage of substitution of sand piles designed when assuming that the driving of precast piles 3 to the ground 3 is none.
