PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To strengthen the support of a refractory brick lined on the furnace wall in a blast furnace and to execute the stable level lowering of charged material and the uniform-cooling of the furnace wall in the blast furnace even in the case of dropping the refractory brick. SOLUTION: A cooling plate 3 is divided into one of a front part cooling chamber 5 for cooling the center side of the furnace and one of a rear part cooling chamber 6 for cooling the furnace wall side, and a water supplying pipe 10 and a water draining pipe 11 penetrating the rear part cooling chamber 6 through an iron shell 1 from the outside of the furnace, are connected to the front part cooling chamber 5, and a water supplying pipe 10 and a water draining pipe 11 for the rear part cooling chamber 6 penetrating the iron shell 11 from the outside of the furnace, are connected, respectively. When the refractory is lost during the operation of the blast furnace, the supplying of the cooling water into the front part cooling chamber 5 is stopped, and the front part cooling chamber 5 is lost by melting and the innermost side surfaces of a stave and the rear part cooling chamber 6 in the furnace, are made to coincide, and the stable level lowering the charged material in the blast furnace and the uniform cooling of the furnace wall in the blast furnace are achieved.
