PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a surfactant composition having characteristics of a sufficiently low viscosity capable of being handled easily in a temperature range of its production, and being hardened for suppressing the ooze out of a non ionic surfactant and improving the strength of the detergent composition simultaneously in a temperature range for preservation, in a good efficiency. SOLUTION: This method for producing a surfactant composition is to produce the surfactant composition containing [component (a)] a non ionic surfactant having >=30 deg.C melting point, [component (b)] an anionic surfactant having sulfuric acid or sulfonic acid group and [component (c)] a fixing agent for the component (a), in which the component (c) is one or more kinds selected from the group consisting of anionic surfactants each having carboxylic acid or phosphoric acid but not having sulfuric acid group or sulfonic acid group and compounds having a miscibility with the component (a) and >=35 deg.C melting point, and the composition is produced by neutralizing an acid precursor of the component (b) with a liquid state alkaline compound in the presence of the component (a) by using a loop reactor.
