摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the shortening quantity of a propeller shaft and prevent a floor tunnel from opening by arranging a stay connecting side walls above the propeller shaft to each other on the upper part of the floor tunnel, and letting the stay interfere with the propeller shaft retreating accompanying collision of a vehicle. SOLUTION: When an automobile collides with a barrior plane G in front, the engine is pushed on the rear side, and a propeller shaft 4 is retreated. Then a bracket breaks down to make a center bearing 13 free, and at the same time, the upper end of a guide flange 18 interferes with the slant part 19a of a stay 19. As a result of this, because the guide flange 18 is downward pushed while being guided with the slant part 19a, the propeller shaft 4 is downward bent from a joint part 12, and because there is no obstruction for the bending on the lower side, the shortening quantity of the propeller shaft 4 is increased. Consequently, the crushed quantity of the rear half of an engine room is increased to effectively absorb collision energy, and occupants in a vehicle room can be surely protected.
