PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flame retardant antibacterial fiber having a highly flame retardant property and a highly enduring antibacterial property by blending a phosphorus-containing thermoplastic resin, and a salt of a triazine-based compound with cyanulic acid, a thermoplastic resin and a phosphorous acid ester, and then melt spinning the mixture. SOLUTION: This flame retardant antibacterial fiber is obtained by blending 100 pts.wt. phosphorus-containing thermoplastic resin A containing a structural unit expressed by formula I (R8, R9, R10 are each 1-2 valent organic acid residue) in the main chain or side chain of the polymer, 1-100 pts.wt. salt B consisting of a triazine-based compound with (iso)cyanulic acid, 0-1,000 pts.wt. thermoplastic resin C, e.g. a polybutylene terephthalate and 0.05-10 pts.wt. >=1 kind of phosphorous acid ester expressed by formula II [R1 is a 4-11C (branched)alkyl, a cycloalkyl or an arylalkyl; R2 is H, a 1-12C alkyl, a cycloalkyl or an arylalkyl; R3 is H, a 1-12C alkyl, a cycloalkyl, an arylalkyl, or the like] based on 100 pts.wt. total of the components A and B, and melt spinning the mixture.
