PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a jacquard type weaving mechanism that is compact, economical and readily accessible and accordingly facilitates the use of the mechanism, and a weaving machine. SOLUTION: The jacquard type weaving mechanism for forming a shed in a weaving machine is related to a heald (5) related to the warp (6) of a loom and related to a harness having a fixed harness cord (4). The harness cord (4) is controlled by electric actuators (2) arranged in rows so that they may form two panels (A, B) and may form a column at a position higher than the loom. Further, a unit (20) that is fed to the actuators (2), and monitors the actuators (2) is housed in a compartment (22) that is partitioned between the panels (A, B).
