PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a titanium carbonitride base alloy of a high Ta content contg. Co as a binder by specifying the compsn. of hard components and executing sintering under the conditions in which a liq. binder phase is first formed on the center part of the member, and after that, it propagates to the outside toward the surface in the front edge part to be melted without generating a macrotic binder phase gradient. SOLUTION: The atomic ratio N/(C+N) is, by atom, 25 to 50%, the content of Ta is 2%, preferably 4 to 7%, the content of W is at least 2%, preferably 3 to 8%, and the content of Co is 5 to 25%. Preferably, the porosity of the sintered member is <=A06 class, preferably A04 class, and the pores are uniformly distributed through the whole of the volume without being concentrated on the center part of the sintered member. When increasing the temp. from the temp. of 1,250 to 1,350 deg.C to the final sintering temp. of 1,370 to 1,550 deg.C, the temp. increasing rate is preferably controlled to 0.5 to 5 deg.C/min. |
