PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lapping method and device capable of lessening form error. SOLUTION: This lapping device M is structured so that a work of gear to be processed 27 is meshed with a lapping gear 35 with a lapping material interposed between them and rotated round a drive shaft 26 and also reciprocated along the drive shaft 26 and that the flanks of the gear 27 are finished smoothly by allowing the gear processed 27 and lapping gear 35 to make relative motion, and is further furnished with a vibration generating means S to vibrate the lapping gear 35 along the follower shaft 34 with the specified frequency. The lapping gear 35 is vibrated with the specified frequency along the follower shaft 34 by an exciting force given by the means S. Accordingly the flanks of two gears 27 and 35 contact with each other by their different areas at all times, and uniform lapping is accomplished over the whole toothform each of the gear processed 27. This allows lessening of form error. |
