PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shield machine or the like which requires exclusive use for a less portion above ground, permits carrying in and out materials and equipment from a tunnel side and generates less noise and vibration pollution. SOLUTION: A shield machine 1 has a front drum portion 3 and a rear drum portion 5, a jack is provided between the front drum portion 3 and rear drum portion 5, and a wire hanger 9 is provided at the rear drum portion 5. In the first mode, only the front drum portion 3 advances while excavating by the cutter 7, and the shield machine 1 pushes the rear drum portion 5 supported by a wire 11 through a center hole jack. In the second mode, the wire 11 is towed by the center hole jack 23 and the rear drum portion 5 and a steel shell 25 is driven.
