PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sphingolipid usable as a cosmetic material, or the like, by separating and collecting insolubles in crude vegetable oil obtained by e.g. squeezing oilseeds. SOLUTION: This sphingolipid is obtained by the following practice: oilseeds, pref. at least one kind selected from soybeans, rapeseeds, sesame, corn, rice, and the like, are squeezed or subjected to extraction to obtain crude vegetable oil, which is then cooled and held pref. at 5-20 deg.C for 1-15 days to raise the quantity of insolubles in the vegetable oil followed by separating and collecting the insolubles and then preferably purifying the insolubles thus collected by either one means among organic solvent washing, solvent fractionation, solvent partition, column chromatography and adsorption to/desorption from an adsorbent.
