PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition improved in physical characteristics such as strength and hardness without lowering processability in kneading operations, etc., by including a rubber other than butyl rubber, an epoxy resin and a vulcanizing agent. SOLUTION: This composition is obtained by including (A) a rubber other than butyl rubber (e.g. a styrene-butadiene rubber), (B) an epoxy resin (e.g. a novolak type epoxy resin) and (C) a vulcanizing agent (e.g. sulfur). The epoxy equivalent of the component. B is preferably <=500. The contents of the components based on 100 pts.wt. of the component A are preferably 0.5-100 pts.wt. of the component B and 0.2-5 pts.wt. of the component C. A filler (e.g. channel black) may be contained in the above composition and a vulcanization accelerator, a vulcanization acceleration aid, an antiscorching agent, an age resistor, an antioxidant, a plasticizer, a foaming agent, a lubricant, a processing aid, etc., may further be used.
