PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acceleration smoothening fuel injection method for a diesel engine, for actively damping torsional vibration generated on a driving system, by adjusting the fuel injection smoothening increasing amount for each injection. SOLUTION: In this fuel injection method, the fuel injection amount in accelerating is increased all at once to the basic smoothening fuel injection amount Qbad in which driving force is started to be applied to a vehicle, the basic smoothening fuel amount Qbad is taken as an initial value, and the fuel injection amount is gradually increased by the specified fuel injection smoothening increasing amount Qadd. In this case, the fuel injection smoothening increasing amount Qadd is determined on the basis of the difference Qexcel between the last final fuel injection amount Qfnl(-1) and the last basic smoothening fuel injection amount Qbad(-1). The difference Qexcel obtained by subtracting the basic smoothening fuel injection amount Qbad in which driving force is started to be applied to the vehicle from the final fuel injection amount Qfnl is taken as a parameter for substantially determining the magnitude of torsional vibration generated on a driving system since the difference indicates that how much fuel is injected from the fuel injection amount in which driving force is started to be applied to the vehicle.
