PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound having excellent cytodifferentiation inducing action or its potentiating action and also improved in solubility, toxicity and the like, and useful as a cytodifferentiation inducing agent, cytodifferentiation inducer action potentiator, or prophylactic/therapeutic agent or the like for neurologic or bone/articular diseases. SOLUTION: This new compound is a compound of formula I (R is H, a 2-6C alkyl or substituted 1-6C alkyl), preferably 11-(4- trifluoromethoxyphenyl)-7,8,9,10-tetrahydro-1,3-benzodioxole[4,5-g]iso quinolin-7-one or the like. The compound of formula I is obtained, for instance, by catalytic hydrogenation of the nitrile group of a compound of formula III (R1 is a 1-6C alkyl) obtained through various reactions from a compound of formula II, in a solvent in the presence of a catalyst such as Raney nickel preferably at about 25-100 deg.C for about 1-24 h to reduce the nitrile group followed by intramolecular cyclization of the thus formed amino group.
