PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute a heating operation effectively using engine exhaust heat during the heating operation, and to suppress reduction in a blowoff temperature during a defrosting operation. SOLUTION: In this heat pump type vehicle air conditioner, a cabin heat exchanger 25, an out-cabin heat exchanger 21 having an outside air suction fan 22, and a compressor unit 20 having a compressor 31, a throttle resistance 34 and a four-way valve 33 are connected through a refrigerant flow channel 30. The heat pump type vehicle air conditioner executes a cooling operation and heating operation by switching a flowing direction of a refrigerant, while having a blower fan 24 and a heater core 26. The heat pump type vehicle air conditioner executes the heating operation with supplying engine cooling water to the heater core 26 to execute a defrosting operation of the heat pump type air conditioner after confirming that a defrosting condition is satisfied and that the engine cooling water has a temperature allowing the heating operation.
