PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize the number of preliminary ejections per each liquid channel. SOLUTION: A movable member 6 having a free end 6b in a liquid channel 7 formed by jointing an element substrate 1 and a top plate 3 is provided. The liquid channel 7 is provided with a first liquid channel 7a communicating with an ejection opening 5 and a second liquid channel 7b having a bubble generation area. The top plate 3 is provided with a viscosity sensor 200 having electrodes 200a, 200b for measuring the viscosity of a liquid in the first liquid channel 7a. The electrodes 200a, 200b are provided in the vicinity of the ejection opening 5, wherein the liquid can easily be thickened due to evaporation of the water content in the liquid.
