PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate the subject action substance by proliferating a cell having an ability for producing a plasminogen activator-inhibiting factor-1(PAI-1) in the presence of a transforming growth factor-β2 and a test substance and then measuring PAI-1. SOLUTION: This method for evaluating a substance acting on a transforming growth factor-β2(TGF-β2) comprises proliferating a cell having an ability for producing a plasminogen activator-inhibiting factor-1(PAI-1), such as human hair papilla cell or human fibroblast, in the presence of the transforming growth factor-β2(TGF-β2) and a test substance and then measuring the plasminogen activator-inhibiting factor-1(PAI-1) contained in the culture medium. Thereby, the substance which acts on TGF-β2 and can be used for screening a TGF-β antagonist can simply be evaluated. The TGF-β antagonist is effective as a hair tonic, an agent for inhibiting the transfer of hair into its involutional period, a hepatocirrhosis medicine, a nephritis medicine and the like. |
