PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition for a transfer ribbon which shows especially outstanding heat transferability at a low coloric value, superb chemical resistance of a transferred image and mar resistance. SOLUTION: (A) A polyester resin which is composed of a polybasic acid component and a polyhydric alcohol component and has 8-40 mgKOH/g acid value, 10 deg.C or higher glass transition temperature and 2,000-15,000 number- average molecular weight, (B) a coloring agent, (C) a basic compound consisting of ammonia or an organic amine compound whose boiling point is 160 deg.C or lower, and (D) an organic solvent which is selected from a ketone, an alcohol and a glycol derivative and has 150 deg.C or lower boiling point. The coating composition for a transfer ribbon contains these components (A)-(D) and is characterized in that the weight ratio of (A) to (B) and the content of (D) are specified and polyester resin particles and the coloring agent are dispersed in an aqueous medium. |
