GIP RECEPTOR GENE FUNCTION-DEFECTIVE ANIMAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a non-human mammal that can be used as glucose tolerance- abnormal animal model that has never been proposed and is useful for elucidation of the physiological functions and the morbid state of GIP by defecting the functions of GIP(gastric inhibitory polypeptide) receptor gene. SOLUTION: The functions of GIP receptor gene is defected by partial or whole deletion of the GIP receptor gene including the expression-regulatory area or by inserting another gene, for example, a neomycin-resistant gene, a diphtheria toxin A fragment gene, a thymidinekinase gene or the like into the GIP receptor gene. In a preferred embodiment, this non-human mammal is a mouse and not only the homo mutant animals but also the hetero mutant animals of the GIP receptor gene are included.
