PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to recognize an operating condition. SOLUTION: A melody memory section 4 stores music data for replaying a plurality of melodies. In the case where an abnormal condition such as paper jamming occurs within a time period from when a printer 1 is instructed to execute printing until the printing is actually started, a CPU 2 reads the music data corresponding to the operating condition from the melody memory section 4 when the printing is completed and it replays the music data by means of a melody decoder 10, an amplifier 11 and a speaker 12.
