PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waveform recorder capable of saving power consumption without lowering recording quality required for waveform recording and damaging print data such as character or symbol recorded together with the waveform at the same time. SOLUTION: This waveform recorder comprises an interpolation quantity detecting section 214 for detecting whether or not an interpolation quantity exceeds a predetermined value in a normal interpolation operation and a continuity detecting section 215 for detecting whether or not a condition that the interpolation quantity exceeds the predetermined value occurs intermittently. When the interpolation quantity of the recording waveform and the intermittent condition thereof are detected and the interpolation quantity intermittently exceeds the predetermined value, the interpolation operation is interrupted and the recording in an envelope curve is performed.
