PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen storage alloy, in the case of being used as the negative electrode of a battery, enabling the high rate discharge (high output) of the battery. SOLUTION: This hydrogen storage alloy is composed of an Ni base alloy having a whole compsn. contg., by weight, 32 to 38% rare earth elements consisting essentially of La, Ce, Pr and/or Nd, 0.1 to 17% Co, 0.1 to 3.5% Al, 0.5 to 10% Mn, one or >= two kinds among Ga, Ge, Sn and Zn by 0.01 to 0.5% to and 0.005 to 0.2% hydrogen, and the balance Ni with inevitable impurities and a structure in which a Ce2Ni7 type crystal structural phase and metallic hydrides consisting essentially of rare earth element hydrides are dispersedly distributed into the base of a CaCu5 type crystal structural phase. |
