PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an oxygen absorbent whose active sites for absorbing oxygen can be produced by the irradiation of light at an oxygen absorption-desired time, and which is not liable to elute contents and is useful for packaging materials, by compounding a photocatalyst and an organic substance. SOLUTION: This oxygen absorbent which can be activated by the irradiation of UV light is obtained by compounding (A) a photocatalyst (for example, anatase type titanium dioxide) and (B) an organic compound (for example, a radically decomposable olefinic resin) preferably in a component A:B weight ratio of 0.000001:1 to 0.1:1. The oxygen absorbent may further contain one or more additives such as a photoinitiator (for example, benzoin), a radical initiator (for example, dicumylperoxide), and a luminous UV light radiator (for example, SrAl2O4:Eu or Dy), and may be used in the form of a film, a sheet, a disc, and the like.
|
