PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record high-quality images at high speed by generating a mask pattern subjected to shading correction with a characteristic of each recording element taken into account, setting and applying a size of the mask pattern in a transfer direction of a recording medium to be an integral multiple of a transfer amount of the recording medium for every scanning of a recording head. SOLUTION: A shading table 18 in which a mask ratio is stored is stored in a ROM. When a power source is supplied to the recording apparatus, mask data is generated on the basis of the mask ratio stored in the shading table 18, and stored in a mask LUT 17. In actual recording, an area density of data binarized for every area corresponding to a size of the mask LUT 17 is checked, and the mask LUT 17 is selected in accordance with the density. There is no need of providing the mask LUT 17 for every recording of paths, thus eliminating a process related to a path control such as a path detection or the like and enabling an appropriate shading correction process in a simple constitution. |
