摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a drum from being damaged by installing a means to predict the coefficient of friction between a drum and a strip, a means to detect the tension of the strip, a means to calculate the internal pressure of the drum, a means to set the upper limit value of the internal pressure of the drum, an internal-pressure comparing means to output the speed correction amount of the drum, and a means to control drum speed, and by operating various controlled variables before the internal pressure of the drum becomes too high. SOLUTION: The means to predict the coefficient of friction predicts through an inverse operation, the coefficientμof friction between a drum and a strip by relating it to the rolling load. A tension detecting means converts a tension t outputted from a tension gauge to a digital signal T. The predicted value of the coefficientμof friction and the tension T are added to an internal-pressure calculating means and converted to a shearing forceτfor each winding unit. The means to set the upper limit value of internal pressure sets an upper limit value P' in consideration of the mechanical allowable stress, and the internal-pressure comparing means outputs a speed correction volume to the speed controlling means if the internal pressure P>=P'. From the relationship of P=τ(T)/μ, if the tension T decreases due to speed increase, the shearing forceτdecrease and the internal pressure P also decreases.
