PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and equipment capable of producing carbon black which satisfies higher blackness, smaller particle diameter, and higher productivity than those of the conventional carbon black. SOLUTION: A method for producing carbon black comprises using equipment for producing carbon black having a first reaction zone which forms a combustion gas stream, a second reaction zone which is provided downstream of the first reaction zone and has a choke section having a channel for a cooling medium along the outer periphery and feeds a raw material of a hydrocarbon to the combustion gas to form carbon black, and a third reaction zone which is provided downstream of the second reaction zone and terminates the reaction, and allowing the cooling medium to flow in such a manner that the boundary film coefficient of the part to be brought into contact with the choke tube in the channel for the cooling medium comes to not less than 200 kcal/m2hr deg.C.
