PURPOSE:To economically produce cumic acid useful as a raw material for perfumes, flavors, etc., from a specific raw material with microorganisms. CONSTITUTION:Isopropylbenzaldehyde or cymene is oxidized with microorganisms to produce cumic acid. The microorganisms are paraffin-utilizing bacteria deposited as FERM P-11752 and P-11754. The microorganisms permit the production of cumic acid more safely and economically than that by the conventional chemical synthetic method. |
