发明名称 Improvements in door locks or latches
摘要 542,763. Door latches. TUGWOOD, R. J. (Daimler-Benz Akt.-Ges.). May 25, 1940, No. 9236. [Class 44] In a latch, particularly for motor-vehicle doors, in which the bolt head has a longitudinal keeper-engaging movement and a transverse tightening movement, the connection between the bolt and door handles is such that one of the movements is completed before the other takes place. As shown the bolt head 34 is connected by arms 30 to a cylindrical part 36 with a pivot pin 39 slidably guided in slots 41, the head being shaped to provide an inclined surface 71 co-operating with a roller 58 carried by a slider 55 which is directly operated by an arm 61 on the spindle 64 of the handles 65, 66. The head 34 is biased to position in line with the slider by spring 43 and to shot position by spring 44 acting on the part 36. The slider is urged to shot position by spring 67 acting on the handle spindle. In use to fasten the door the bolt is retracted by the handle, the door closed, end the handle released. Spring 44 first shoots the head 34 into the keeper 75 as in Fig. 4, spring 67 then continuing movement of the slider so that roller 58 acting on surface 71 moves the head 34 laterally to the tightened position, Fig. 3, urging the door on to its seating. The movements occur in reverse order when the handle is operated to effect release. In a modification the inclined surface is formed on the slider and the roller is mounted on the bolt head. In another form the inclined surface is provided on the lock casing and the slider has a pivoted end-piece carrying the roller, this endpiece being swung laterally and communicating its lateral movement to the bolt head. In further modifications the slider may have two rollers offset or of different diameters so that one engages the casing and the other the bolt head. The roller arrangement may be replaced by a link connection between slider and bolt head, the link being inclined at a small angle to the slider movement during the longitudinal operation and then swinging to a greater angle to move the head laterally on further movement of the slider. Fig. 8 shows an arrangement with the handle spindles 86, 96 out of alignment such that movement of one handle does not affect the other. The slider is operated by a swinging arm 82 connected with arms 87, 97 on the spindles by links 90, 98 pivoted to arm 82 at 89, 102. When handle 65 on spindle 86 is depressed link 90 swings arm 82 clockwise about pivot 102, and when handle 66 on spindle 96 is depressed, link 98 swings arm 82 clockwise about pivot 89, the slider being retracted in both cases. In a modification the links are replaced by pins on the arms 87, 97 having sliding engagement in arcuate slots formed in arm 82. In a further form arm 82 carries a toothed member opposite edges of which are engaged by pivoted toothed sectors which are themselves, respectively, rotated by toothed sectors on the handle spindles. In this form the toothed member on the arm fulcrums on one pivoted sector whilst the other is being operated to rock the arm.
