The method for estimating parameters in a telecommunication system involves storing input and output signals in a buffer unit. The signals are those which normally occur in a telecommunication network during operation. The impulse response is calculated by inverse transformation of an estimated transmission function: H(f) = Syx(f)/Sxx(f) where: Syx(f) is the in/out effect cross spectrum and Sxx(f) is the in effect spectrum. Echo return losses in the frequency interval (f1,f2) are calculated as: ERL = 10log Pz/Py Px = 2 <= Sxx (f) df Py = 2 <= Sxx (f)2 df (Where both integrations are calculated over the range f1 to f2) |
