CELL MULTIPLEXING SYSTEM OF ATM NETWORK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate variation in generation timing of a standard ATM cell, to shorten delay, and to obtain high transmission efficiency by multiplexing with the standard cell short cells of other lines generated on the basis of the generation timing of short cells of a reference line where one short cell is set among short cells of multiple lines. SOLUTION: The generation timing of a short cell SC2 is generated in the generation timing of a short cell SC1 by regarding the generation timing of the short cell SC1 as a reference line. Data are shifted as shown by the arrow and the shifted data are discarded. Consequently, the short cell SC1 and short cell SC2 are generated in the same timing thereafter. The 'reference terminal line' on which the adjustment of short cell generation timing is based adjusts the short cell generation timing of all terminal lines. The short cells are multiplexed with the standard ATM cell and transmitted.
