PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and equipment which can obtain a name simply and adequately, when a memory spot is set in navigation equipment. SOLUTION: When a desired spot on a displayed map is made a memory spot, the name of the institution nearest to the memory spot is made the name of the memory spot. In this case, not the memory spot but the address of an area where the institution exists is contained in the name of the memory spot. Further, a spot which is not in data base is set as a memory spot by using spot information like an institution existing in the vicinity, and a name is obtained from the spot information. It is judged whether the spot of an institution or the like existing in the vicinity exists within a specified distance from a spot to be stored. When the spot exist within the specified distance, spot information on the institution or the like is obtained as a name. When the spot exits distantly, spot information on an institution or the like in the vicinity of a spot to be newly stored is obtained as the name of the memory spot. |
