PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relieve a load on a central management unit that executes data communication with a plurality of terminals and maintenance and management of data communication equipment. SOLUTION: A function of displaying the state of a transmission line and a transmission line interface section in data communication units 2-1-2-n is provided and the data communication equipment acquire the state of the transmission line and the transmission line interface sections. The state of the transmission line and the transmission line interface sections is periodically acquired through interruption processing caused periodically. Occurrence of a fault is detected on the basis of the state acquired in the data communication equipment. Proper fault restoration control objects in response to a fault state are stored in a database and the database is stored in a memory in the data communication equipment to acquire a proper fault recovery control object in response to a result of detection in the case of detecting a fault. A fault recovery control section is provided to execute fault restoration control and the data communication equipment controls fault restoration.
